Our story

Built by one developer who got tired of switching between five tools

API Test Lab started as a personal project in early 2026. It is still a small, focused product built and maintained by one person. No VC funding, no bloat, no roadmap theater.

How it started

In early 2026, I was working on three API-heavy projects at the same time. My workflow looked like this: Postman for exploring endpoints, JMeter for load tests, a separate uptime monitor, and a spreadsheet to track results. It was slow, expensive, and annoying to maintain.

I spent a weekend building something for myself - a single interface where I could send a request, run a quick load test, and see uptime status without switching tabs. I shared it with a few developers I knew. They asked to keep using it.

That became API Test Lab. It is not trying to replace Postman for enterprise teams or k6 for engineers who love scripting. It is built for developers who want to get the job done without a two-hour setup.

What we are trying to do

One workflow, not five tools

Most developers use at least 2-3 separate tools to test, load test, and monitor APIs. We think that is unnecessary overhead. API Test Lab puts all three in one place.

Honest pricing

The free tier is real and permanent. Pro is $5/month flat. Max is $20/month flat. No per-seat pricing, no usage spikes, no surprise bills.

Built for people who ship fast

No YAML configs, no CLI setup, no scripting required. If you have used a browser form, you can run your first test in 2 minutes.

Who builds this

Abubakkar Sajid

Founder, Developer

Full-stack developer with a focus on MERN stack and API tooling. Based in Lahore. Building API Test Lab as a solo product.

API Test Lab is a one-person product right now. That means decisions get made fast, feedback gets read personally, and there is no support ticket queue that routes to someone who has never used the product.

It also means I am honest about what the product can and cannot do. If k6 fits your use case better, I will say so. If you need SOC 2 compliance and SSO today, Max plan has SSO but I do not have SOC 2 certification yet.

Where we are

Jan 2026

Development started

First working prototype of a unified API tester and load tester. Built in three weeks during evenings and weekends.

Feb-Mar 2026

Beta program opened

Early access program launched for developers who signed up early. Every piece of feedback went directly into the product.

Apr 2026

Public launch

Free tier opened with no card required. Pro at $5/month and Max at $20/month. The roadmap includes CLI access, Postman import, and expanded load testing capacity.

What is coming

The current roadmap priorities are: Postman collection import, CLI and API access for CI/CD pipelines, expanded load testing worker capacity, and more export formats. If there is something you need that is not on this list, email hi@apitestlab.org.

If you are a developer interested in contributing or collaborating, reach out. This is still early and the right conversations happen fast.
